Artesa Winery Pinot Noir Estate Los Carneros 2019
Who loves world-class Carneros pinot? Yeah, me too…most especially when I can snag it for over 60% OFF! Don’t get befuddled by our EPICALLY low price – this ain’t your grocery store’s Artesa pinot – but rather a small-production, ESTATE VINEYARD bottling you won’t find anywhere else! Two options…the winery (at more than double this price), and US!!!!
Let’s gooooooo!! Hell, our simply GOBSMACKING price is even over 50% less than what Artesa’s own club members pay for this beauty! Way, way, WAY less than their best price – we’re talking UNDER $20, people! Lock, stock, and sop this one up, friends…quick-like!
The ROCKSTAR 2019 vintage, the cool, wind-swept climes of Napa’s Los Carneros district, tucked up under the shadows and forestry of Mt. Veeder…this seductive and sultry pinot noir has it all!!! The smells! The flavors! I swoon…and I never swoon on a Tuesday. (Least favorite day of the week, always has been…until TODAY!) Floral and pretty, with fresh rose petals and bright pomegranate tea, then hints of spiced cranberries, and smoky cinnamon, with sweet red bell peppers, and dusty little crunches of cocoa nibs. It’s rich, but never heavy, with a delicately interwoven acidity that is really only perceptible on the long, enduring finish. Wowza…this is a HECK of a pinot for Napa, for California, at ANY price. I say again…UNDER $20? Go. Just…go. No scores on this baby (smaller production, remember?), but as their base-level pinot (that combines purchased fruit with estate fruit at a nationwide production capability) got a solid 92 points – I think it’s fair to say this is deserving of a 94, at least!
This is ready to go, the moment it hits your hot little hands. Wicked-delish! These Barcelona-born folks are Spanish royalty in the wine world – been at it for generations, with the top spot in Spain added to their impressive portfolio since 1551! They’ve been killing it with the estate Artesa wines for almost 30 years – but most only know them for the larger production chardonnay and pinot noir. Do yourself a solid and sneak a peek behind this elegant and elaborate curtain…you’ll be stoked you did! OVER 60% OFF on this baby? What are you waiting for?!?!
** As a former architecture student (before I discovered just how much MATH was involved), I can say this – the winery is freaking spectacular! Designed by Barca-born architect Domingo Triay – the pools, the pyramids, the monolithic and grand style of the site – it’s worth a visit, even without wine! Check it out next time you come visit us here...in the meantime drink it, at by far, the best price on the planet!! **
This small production pinot noir spends 10 Months in 100% French Oak Barrels (30% new) with about 20% of the overall grapes being fermented whole cluster, with the remaining lots de-stemmed, but not crushed, leaving whole berries. Winemaker Ana Diogo-Draper cold soaks the berries, in a mix of stainless steel tanks (70%) and Puncheon (30%), for four days – gently extracts color and flavor. The grapes used to produce this wine were grown in some of their highest hillside blocks on the estate, grown in Haire clay loam soils. Sourced from eight unique blocks, with an envious mixture of Martini, Dijon 667, and 777 clones.

About The Producer
The family’s winemaking origins trace back to 1551, just outside of Barcelona, Spain where they created Raventós Codorníu – an esteemed Cava producer. Along the way, they also started Bodega Bilbaínas – Rioja’s oldest surviving winery. In 1991, they added Artesa to their portfolio – named for a Catalan word that means “handcrafted. For over 30 years, this stunning Carneros estate has crafted powerful yet elegant wines in a setting that showcases the harmony of farming, architecture, and artisanal craftsmanship.
