Leefield Station Pinot Noir Marisco Vineyards Marlborough 2021 - Last Bottle

Leefield Station Pinot Noir Marisco Vineyards Marlborough 2021

94-POINT New Zealand Pinot for only $19!!

What a PINOT! Stunning…and I mean, STUNNING levels of fruit, and savory notes, big yet soft, powerful while elegant – a delectable dichotomy of pure Pinot charm, grace, and lip-smacking pleasure! Just a ga-ga price, for a wine that falls somewhere between Premier Cru Burgundy (Gevrey-Chambertin? Pommard? Structured and meatier side for sho!), and Willamette Valley Pinot Noir in western Oregon. It’s a VIBE, no question. Smoky, sappy black cherries, roasted plums, cola and baking spices, and THE MUSHROOMS! Black trumpets, with some matsutake pine mushrooms, maybe even a shaving of Burgundy black truffle…just savory, umami deliciousness that sets a man’s heart aflame! It’s silky-smooth, with a perfectly integrated acidity – and unreal amounts of polish and sexy texture throughout. Terrifically drinkable, and again, THIS PRICE!

Marisco Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery located in Marlborough, New Zealand. They have garnered acclaim for their exceptional wines, notably its renowned brand, The Ned. Founded in 2006 by esteemed winemaker Brent Marris, The Ned reflects Marris's childhood memories in Marlborough's Wither Hills range. Building on The Ned's success, Marisco Vineyards expanded its portfolio in 2009 with The Kings' Series, which pays tribute to Marris's ancestors, the de Marisco family. With a commitment to family legacy and Marlborough's viticultural heritage, owners Brent and Rosemary Marris have ventured into ultra-premium wines with The Craft Series. This dedication to excellence is exemplified by their acquisition of Leefield Station in 2013, where careful cultivation of vineyards, preservation of native bush, and a fully operational farm promise a continuation of Marisco Vineyards' legacy.

About The Producer

Brent Marris is a prominent figure in New Zealand winemaking, known for his exceptional talent and dedication to the craft. Inspired by his father, John Marris, who planted Marlborough's first vineyards for Montana Wines in 1973, Brent pursued his passion for winemaking. He became Marlborough's first locally-born and raised qualified winemaker after studying at Roseworthy Agricultural College in South Australia. In 1985, Brent took on the role of Chief Winemaker for Delegats Wine Estate, where he played a pivotal role in establishing the renowned Oyster Bay wine style, which has since become a prominent New Zealand brand internationally. Returning to his roots in 1994, Brent co-founded Wither Hills with his father, achieving critical acclaim and commercial success. Following the sale of Wither Hills, Brent embarked on a new venture, founding The Ned brand in 2003 on the banks of the Waihopai River. With his exceptional ability to blend varietals to showcase regional character, Brent has firmly established himself as one of New Zealand's most respected winemakers. Alongside his wife, Rosemary, and inspired by their four daughters, Brent's dedication to winemaking reflects his deep-rooted passion for family and tradition.
