Château La Tour du Pin Figeac Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2016 - Last Bottle

Château La Tour du Pin Figeac Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2016

95 POINTS from the simply STELLAR 2016 vintage, and we’ve snagged it for the BEST IN THE WORLD price!

FIGEAC! Ok, technically…more accurately…Château La Tour du Pin Figeac – but hey, LISTEN UP! This lesser-known, 11-hectare estate is carved from the OG 200-hectare parcel atop the pristine limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion – the very same one that has been split, and transferred, and split again from the 2nd CENTURY ancient Gallo-Roman estate of the Figeacus family. Today, this IMMACULATE patch of Right Bank prominence goes by the assorted names of CHÂTEAU CHEVAL BLANC, CHÂTEAU FIGEAC, and this little under-the-radar gem, Château La Tour du Pin Figeac. Sure, you could pay several hundreds of dollars for a single bottle of either of those – or…OR!!! You can score this sexy, completely over-delivering bottle of all-time deliciousness for LESS THAN $35!

Jeopardy time! What do Château Troplong Mondot, Château Giscours, Château Canon, Beau-Séjour Bécot, and this estate all have in common? Answer? Who is SUPERSTAR winemaker THOMAS DUCLOS! Considered the Right Bank’s most indispensable wine whisperer – this phenom is revered for taking back Right Bank Bordeaux from over-saturated, over-ripe, and over-oaked behemoths to wines of character, with elegance, depth, and yes, no shortage of primal power, either! This 2016 BEAUTY hits all those markers and then some – there’s no way you sip a whole glass and believe you’ve paid less than $75 or $95 for this bottle.

Dusty violets and sage, with velvety dark chocolate truffles, and black trumpet mushrooms, followed by black currants, and plums, with graphite, and fractured granite rocks, and tightly-wound intensity. YOWZA! As the wine opens, crushed raspberries and blackberries, smoked meats, savory herbs, and a delicate finish that showcases dragonfruit, cedar, and a kiss of vanilla. How is this almost a decade old already? Fresher than a chilled iceberg lettuce salad with the sort of frenetic energy usually reserved for catnip-laced feral cats – this Right Bank Bordeaux is ROCKING hard…and you need to grab as much as you, as quickly as you can, while we still have this up on the site. I got a six-pack (still paying off Italy, so you know…temperance), but man, am I looking forward to sipping on these over the next decade PLUS!

95 POINTS and one of the finest UNDER $35 Bordeauxs you will EVER see! While it lasts!

About The Producer

Château La Tour du Pin Figeac was born as one of the great estates of the Right Bank of Bordeaux – a massive estate comprising some 200+ hectares that was founded back in the 2nd century. Over the years, the estate was fractured into parcels, each of which would become an important figure in the history and high-quality wines of Saint-Émilion. The 11-hectare parcel that is Château La Tour du Pin Figeac today sits atop the Haute Terrasse of Figeac-Pomerol, while the other portions of the original estate are now divided amongst Château Figeac and Château Cheval Blanc. Impressive neighbors, to be certain, and this small house is making a statement all its own.
